Julie Seevers Art _____ About Colored Pencil Today's colored pencils have only been around since the 1950s, making it a modern medium. Thanks to European companies specializing in pencil manufacturing, quality colored pencils are now lightfast and archival to ensure a product that will last generations. The versatility of colored pencils provides an opportunity for artists to explore new techniques in a variety of styles. For me, working with pencils has become of source of solace and meditation in this world of digital living. The delicate interaction that takes place as multiple layers of pencil build up on the paper reflects my emotional connection towards the subjects I celebrate. Each piece is a hand-made original.
